Users may select the particular I/O address space at which the DSP-200-300 is to be located. The two serial ports of the card may be configured at either the standard COM port I/O address locations or in a 16-byte continuous I/O address block. Also, the DSP-200-300 may be configured at any one interrupt level. An interrupt status register is provided for determining the serial port which was the source of the generated interrupt. The user may also select Full Duplex/Half Duplex options with RTS and DTR as driver enable options. A RTS-CTS Modem Control handshake may also be selected.
Since the two serial ports must share one hardware interrupt level, an enhanced serial device driver is provided for Windows 3.1. The driver will allow two serial ports to share one hardware interrupt level. In addition, a PCMCIA Card Services Version 2.1 compliant client driver for DOS is provided which will provide for automatic configuration of the DSP-200-300 upon each card insertion. This will permit the DSP-200-300 to be "hot-swapped". The DSP-200-300 will be automatically configured upon each card insertion. A separate enabler program is provided for the configuration of the DSP-200-300 for those who wish to run the card without card and socket services installed.
